Beautiful iron work can be found in many architectural buildings especially those from the Victorian era as the Victorians had to be some of the most prolific iron users in History. Some of the ornamental iron mongery could be said to be a by product of the industrial revolution which saw production of iron products taking off at an incremental rate. In Shropshire and the surrounding areas there is little left of the industrial age, where rural delights and country homes seek out traditional cast iron home wear to display in and around the home. Ironbridge in Shropshire was at the heart of the production of fine castings, ’ Iron ore was first smelted by Abraham Darby using easily mined "cooking coal". The coal was drawn from drift mines in the sides of the valley. As it contained far fewer impurities than normal coal, the iron it produced was of a superior quality’. Wikipedia.
Traditional British Foundry Casting Iron
Bridgnorth is also a beautiful Historic town where many fine examples of country cottages and homes can be found from days gone by. Yester Home has captured this timeless quality beautifully in it’s cast iron home wear which is manufactured in our foundry in Wolverhampton. Our offices and dispatch can be found just outside this Historic town in the nearby Upper Aston Farm, at Upper Aston Claverley.
We also have a stand at Jones's vintage and retro centre nearby where many delightful household items reproduced from original Victorian patterns can be found displayed in this distinctly vintage setting.
Some of the most popular items to be made into iron work include ornamental cast iron shelf  brackets, door porters and balcony railings.

Today we can see country manor houses using cast iron hat and coat hooks in their entrance hallways, but also country cottages and farm houses.

It is a delight to know that authentic manufacturers still exist today in post Victorian England and that it is still possible to buy some excellently crafted ironwork.

The majority of foundries that produce high quality work are still to be found in and around the Black Country and some who manufacture the fine cast ware for Yester Home have many years expertise in the industry, sometimes able to produce bespoke castings where required.

Cast iron lends itself well to use around the home, especially in the kitchen and hallway where an array of home wear has been designed and cast since the Victorians began casting in iron. Some superb pieces can still be found today from original manufacturers such as Kenrick, but for consistence and supply, today’s metal workers can produce some wonderful cast household ironwork, that can be enjoyed as much by modern home owners as their fore fathers.

Just to say how pleased we are with the items we have purchased from you, the aged bronze knobs for my new kitchen, the toilet roll holder, cast iron pull handles. Every thing is of the highest quality. The company is great to deal with! Highly recommend.
